Sweet Abraham of London’s DIASPORA label contributes
a soulful deep piece of west London broken beat with vocals handled by COLONEL
RED. The tune has a hard swing and beat that is unique to this track and to
the London sound. Colonel Red has become a force to watch in his own right,
tearing up the scene with his work on the PEOPLE label. MEIKBAR, hot off his
highly successful 12” for RUSHHOUR, steps in and takes things on a mellow
DEEP HOUSE journey. The smooth bass line and Rhodes chords provide the perfect
foundation for the buttery vocals. For fans of that deep smooth HEARD or DIXON
sound. Atlanta’s rising stars, KEMETIC JUST take this track straight
to the dance floor with two slightly broken beat house mixes, vocal and dub.
REACTION/DJ SUPPORT/PRESS
Straight No Chaser Spring / Summer 2004 Vol2 Issue 30
Dom Servini’s “selection of essential future
classics”
The label may hail from the windy city of Chicago, but the sound is nothing
less than 21st Century West London soul. ‘All I Want’ features
the faultless vocals of Colonel Red and is a tuff 120 bpm floor filler. Atlanta’s
Kemetic offer up their own take on the bruk beat sound, and the mighty Meikbar
also come through with an optimistic house version that might be the pick
of the bunch.
