On the release front;
We just released a 12” sampler to the forthcoming double CD, Kahil El’Zabar
“Deeper Soul Remix Project” (our first CD release, coming February
2006). The 12” features remixes of Ethnic Heritage Ensemble’s
music by Henrik Schwarz, Osunlade (exclusive to the 12”), and Djinji
Brown. It’s all ready charted and championed by Carl Craig, Gilles Peterson,
Michael Rutten, Mad Mats, Karl Injex, and was nominated for a World Wide Track
of the Year by Gilles Peterson of the BBC! Available now in the UK and Europe
in shops or on the web @ www.goyamusic.com and in the US in shops and on the
web @ www.groovedis.com. Also, available in various tasty spots around the
globe.
This February, Deeper Soul is proud to present our first CD release, a double
at that. The Kahil El’Zabar “Deeper Soul Remix Project”
will compile the remixes from the 12” singles, DSR #003, 004, 006, &
007, featuring the remixes by IG Culture, Osunlade, Charles Webster, Henrik
Schwarz, Kemit Sources and Djinji Brown. The second CD will feature the original
recordings, two of which were previously unreleased on CD, and one being commercially
available for the first time anywhere. A DVD feature on the Ethnic Heritage
Ensemble and Kahil El’Zabar with live footage and interviews are included
on the second disk.
“Chicago Is Now” in Bordeaux
The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble and Josh Deep have just returned from Bordeaux
France where they presented the “Chicago Is Now” 3 day event as
part of the annual Novart Festival. Hot business here.
Day one featured a duo with Archie Shepp and Kahil El’Zabar. Mad legendary
business here, both Archie and Kahil were in top form. Finding themselves
locked in deep grooves like two brothers that have played together on the
daily for years, and Archie layin’ it down on vocals to a spine chilling
rendition of “Motherless Child”.
Day two saw the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble playing an acoustic set with IG
Culture and Josh Deep providing the after sounds for the boogie deep into
the night. The Ethnics turned mad heads joined by the new trumpet player for
the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Corey Wilkes. The prodigy blew tough, watch for
this ensemble on tour in 2006 across the globe.
Day three was the topper. Presented in the center of CAPC (The Museum of Contemporary Art) the night opened with an acoustic set by the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble followed by DJ sets by Andy Williams and Josh Deep. Henrik Schwarz then took to the stage for a blinding one hour set on his mighty power book laptop. Slowly creeping on stage to join Henrik, The Deeper Soul Project took formation and featured the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble (Kahil El’Zabar vocals, percussion, Ernest Dawkins saxophone, percussion, and Corey Wilkes, trumpet, digital efx, percussion), IG Culture on percussion, vocals, and synths, Henrik Schwarz on Laptop, and Josh Deep on Fender Rhodes, vocals, and synths, and last but not least, Ms, Asa on vocals. Madness! An hour and half of pure deep futuristic grooves ‘Ancient to the Future’. The set featured a live version of Henrik’s now classic “Leave My Head Alone Brain” and his remix of “He’s Got the Whole World”, plus a much freaked version of Miles Davis’ “All Blues”. Multiple visual artists filled the space out creating works deeply inspired by the environment unfolding around them.
Watch for the return to Bordeaux November 2006!

Deeper Soul Spring Tour 2006
Kicking off February 2006 is the Deeper Soul Tour, featuring on their annual
North American tour for Black History Month, The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble,
joined by Fareed Haque and DJ Josh Deep. The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble will
be layin’ down acoustic sets to kick off the night, set breaks will
feature wax laid down by Josh Deep, and the band will emerge for a second
set featuring Josh Deep on MPC 2000XL, Fender Rhodes and various trickery.
All out freak down dance parties with Josh Deep and local DJ talents take
the night to close. Watch for the tour touchin’ down in a city near
you!
The tour is scheduled to commence in our hometown of Chicago for two shows
at Sonotheque (www.sonotheque.net), the home of the Deeper Soul monthly party.
We have very special shows lined up for these dates, where the Deeper Soul
Project will take shape once again, with IG Culture, Henrik Schwarz, and Josh
Deep joining the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, for two nights, before they take
the show to Miami for WMC. Chicago, March 15th and 16th, make your plans now!
“Ancient to the Future” this is history in the making.

In the meantime, please watch for these upcoming releases.
The Ethnic Heritage Ensemble and DJ Josh Deep will be on tour for the Deeper Soul Project across the globe, watch for a date near you Summer/Autumn 2005!
DSR#005 Alton Miller "Clouds Are Gone" with 2 Henrik Schwarz remixes. May 2nd 2005 Worldwide.
Deep, soulful business from Alton Miller featuring his vocals in an expressive love song. Henrik Schwarz delivers two remixes. His first mix is a 12 plus mintue journey to the deep influences of proper Detroit soulful techno and house. His second mix stretches Alton's vocals over a deep ass track with dubbed out efx.
DSR#006 Kahil El'Zabar and Kemit Sources "Our Time Is Now" plus an IG Culture remix. May 20th 2005 Worldwide.
Created when Kahil visited the Kemit Sources studio in Paris in 2004, this has taken on a life of it's own. In proper Kemit Sources style, this track is rich with percussion, their deep vocals, and Kahil's message. When IG Culture heard this track, he knew he had to do the "remix" . IG gets underneath this track and builds a completely original platform for Kahil's vocals to deliver from, complete with IG's own chanted vocals. Together the influences of Sun Ra, broken beat, and deep funk, this is "Ancient to the Future".
Already huge at the CO-OP with Orin "Afronaught" Walters, plus heavy rotation and chartings from Gilles Peteson and Benji B of the BBC, and Compost Radio's Michael Rutten.

glory, 7 and half minutes of Detroit Soul with an extended spoken word and
vocal. Sweet Abraham returns to the camp and provides a remix perfect for
the club and a nice Beatdown track, “My Life” rounds out the single.
